Hello, Yes, a larger amount of carbon will help. However, please keep in mind that a purifier works best in the close surrounding area. Sometimes if the source is heavy or coming from multiple areas, one unit may not be enough. One is trying to balance the speed by having it as high as needed. This means it should be faster than the source in order not to allow the contaminant to build up but also as slow as possible because the slower the air flow the longer the time the contaminant is in contact with the carbon to be adsorb. Often this is a medium speed.
Also please keep in mind that the contaminant must go through the unit to be reduced so if you are between the unit and the source, one will still smell it.
