Hello, this unit does come with a VOC canister for inside the unit. The consumer does need to open the unit and put the canister in upon arrival. However, it is only half a pound of carbon and designed for small spaces like a nursery or car.
It probably isn't enough for oil painting. You may want to consider a unit with more carbon in it like Amaircare 3000 HEPA/VOC or Airpura C600DLX (or add the 700 motor upgrade for a quieter unit)
